🐸 Even quicker FAQ

Pretty photo I took to make this entry less boring

Well not technically Frequently Asked Questions since I’m not that popular yet but whatever here’s some info you might want to know in a Q&A format

🐸 Who are you? – Not literally a frog!! My name is Heather and I really like travel to unusual places. I used to post about places I went on Facebook, but I wanted somewhere a bit fancier so now this blog exists.

🐸 Where do you live? – In the Midlands of the UK, as you can probably guess by the places I visit when not on long trips.

🐸 Where have you been before? – I’m not a hardcore traveler and have a limited budget, but as of now I think I’ve ticked off about 25 different countries. I thought this was impressive until I started going on tours and meeting people who’d visited over 160! When I was younger I was pretty obsessed with trying to tick off as many as possible, but now I’m more interested in visiting unique places than crossing new borders.

🐸 Favourite place so far? – It’s hard to say, but for different reasons Estonia, Samara and Taiwan come to mind. More locally, I think Coventry, Leeds and Hull are all really underappreciated.

🐸 Least favourite place so far? –  Most cities/places I either enjoy or at least appreciate them, even if they’re not for me. If I had to choose I suppose I’d say Shanghai? But there’s still some interesting things to see there even if it’s a pretty soulless city (sorry Shanghaiers).

Shanghai has a science museum with a ‘ride’ where you’re eaten alive, taken on a journey through a giant digestive system, then literally get defecated out a giant bum for the grand finale. There’s fart sound effects and everything. It’s been six years since this experience and I still haven’t recovered.

🐸 Any plans for the future? – Planning has been… tricky due to Covid and other personal matters, but I try to get one big trip in a year. My personal holy grail would be to visit the Creation Museum in Kentucky, but I have a big list of other places I’d also like to see, and am planning trips to go see em! See below for some Google Maps screenshots – green pins are places I really want to go to, while blue pins represent places that are also of interest.

🐸 Why Coffee Frog?? – I like coffee and take pictures of a cuddly frog when I go places, so I just combined the two and went with it. Actually the frog is a tiny plushy of a mascot from a Japanese phone game called “Tabikaeru” or ‘Travel Frog’ – it’s about a grumpy frog that visits random places and sends back photos of its travels.

🐸 So is the frog called Coffee Frog – Yeah just to avoid any copyright issues

🐸 So is this blog meant to be from the perspective of the frog…? – No that would be weird

🐸 Why did you start a travel blog in the middle of a global pandemic you buffoon – In 2020, stuck in the UK, I went to Northern Ireland for the first time and saw a lot of interesting stuff relating to the Troubles – but I had nowhere to discuss what I’d seen. Covid closed travel again shortly afterwards, but when domestic tourism opened back up again in 2021 I decided to tick off some places in London that I’d had on my list for ages. I started the blog with a post about the Panacea Museum, and since then I’ve updated it whenever I’ve managed to visit somewhere worth talking about.

Ultimately though this entire blog is just a vanity project. I’m really forgetful so it’s handy having somewhere I can record my thoughts and share with anyone interested in where I’ve been. I hope you enjoy it too!

🐸 Why all the emojis?? – When I first started the blog, I couldn’t figure out how to add cover photos to the links for each blog post, so I used emojis instead. Now they’re just cute – I like the way they look 😘

🐸 Are you planning on making this a career or monetising this at all – Probably not unless this blog somehow explodes in popularity for whatever reason. I’ll be covering more esoteric locations that aren’t traditional tourist destinations – my hope is that I can help out other people who have the same weird interests as me, but can’t find information on what it’s like to visit an obscure religious group etc. So far I’ve managed to accrue a handful of followers which is more than I thought I’d ever get!!

🐸 Do you have any other social media? – Nothing public since I deleted Facebook, but you can follow my TripAdvisor page if you want – I mostly post shorter reviews of places I visit. If you want to get in touch and you’re not weird about it then just comment through the blog and I’ll try to get back to you!

Let me know if you have any further questions! Or don’t! That’s fine too I suppose
